Why Won’t My AirPods Connect and Pair?

Reset your AirPods
If none of these solutions worked, you will need to perform a factory reset on your AirPods and re-pair them with your iOS device (iPhone or iPad).
- Launch the app titled “Settings” on your device.
- Open the Bluetooth menu.
- Tap the information icon that is located next to your AirPods. This icon resembles an “i” enclosed within a circle.
- Select the option to Forget this Device.
- Place the AirPods inside the carrying case, snap the cover shut, and wait approximately thirty seconds.
- After the time has passed, remove the cover.
- While holding down the setup button on the rear of the enclosure, wait for the status light to flash amber a few times. This will be followed by the status light flashing white continually.
- If everything went as it should have, you should now be able to reattach your AirPods.
Make sure you’re running the right version of iOS
If you have never linked these AirPods to your iPhone or iPad before, check to be that both devices have the minimal system requirements met in order for the connection to be successful. If you have AirPods from the first generation, the minimum required version of iOS on your iOS device is 10; if you have AirPods from the second generation, the minimum required version of iOS is 12.2.

- Launch the app titled “Settings” on your device.

- Make sure Bluetooth is activated on the target iPhone or iPad. Check that the Bluetooth icon is enabled (it should be blue) by opening the Control Center by swiping down from the top right corner of the screen on iPhone X or later or up from the bottom on iPhone 8 Plus or older. The Bluetooth settings in your device’s settings app can also be double-checked.
- Try reconnecting it after restarting the iOS device. In many cases, this kind of issue can be fixed by just restarting the device.
Clean your AirPods and charging case
If dust or other particles enter your AirPods’ carrying case, they may stop working properly or break. You should clean your AirPods and their case regularly to keep them in good operating order.
To clean your AirPods and their carrying case, all you need is a dry, lint-free cloth. You shouldn’t put your AirPods or their case into an electronic cleaner or any other cleaning process. Don’t put either one underwater, either. If you need to remove additional embedded debris or grime, a toothpick or safety pin will do the trick.
To remove earwax from your gadgets, you can use a Q-tip. Take extreme caution not to break your AirPods or their charging case. Before placing your wet AirPods in the charging case, please ensure they are completely dry.
Turn Your iPhone Off And Back On
Try powering down and then restarting your iPhone if your AirPods still won’t connect. When you want to turn off your iPhone, press and hold the power button until the “slide to power off” option displays. To power down your iPhone, swipe the slider to the left.
Keep holding the power button until the Apple logo displays, and then release it to turn on your iPhone again. Your device will be unlocked and ready for use again in a few seconds.
